Montessori philosophy

Montessori is a way of living, not a lesson

At Namuna, Montessori is not a separate subject or an "extra activity". It is the way the whole environment is prepared and the way adults speak with children every day.

Children work with authentic Montessori materials, choose meaningful activity, care for themselves and their environment, move freely within clear limits, and through meaningful work they develop independence.

Our guides do not rush the child, do not compare children with one another, and do not teach only through direct instruction. Instead they observe each child closely, prepare the right conditions, and guide the child towards concentration, responsibility, language, movement, social development and inner discipline.

Core principles

Montessori in practice

01

The prepared environment

Everything is prepared to match the child's real developmental needs — beautiful, orderly and child-sized.

02

Meaningful work

The child chooses purposeful work, repeats it, develops concentration and gradually becomes independent.

03

Observation

Adults observe the child closely and prepare the right conditions for each individual child.

04

Freedom within clear limits

The child moves and chooses freely — but within clear, respectful limits.

Our approach

The guide's role

What we do

  • Observe each child closely
  • Prepare the right conditions and environment
  • Guide the child towards concentration and responsibility
  • Support language, movement and social development
  • Respect each child's own pace

What we don't do

  • Rush the child
  • Compare children with one another
  • Teach only through direct instruction
  • Over-reward or apply pressure
  • Interfere with the child's natural development

See the environment for yourself

The best way to understand a Montessori environment is to see it. Come and visit our school.
