Authentic Montessori education in Uzbekistan

Namuna International Montessori School was founded to bring authentic Montessori education — not as a decorative style or a set of activities, but as a complete way of understanding the child.

Our story

Why Namuna?

Namuna was founded by a Montessori-trained educator who wanted children in Uzbekistan to grow up in an environment where independence, concentration, inner discipline, respect and a love of knowledge form naturally from the earliest age.

What sets Namuna apart is its commitment to authentic Montessori practice: mixed-age classrooms, prepared environments, AMI-trained adults, freedom within clear limits, guidance grounded in observation, and respect for each child's natural development.

Founded in 2025, Namuna International Montessori School is the first leading school in Uzbekistan built on authentic Montessori principles.

The meaning of our name
"Namuna" means "example" or "model" in Uzbek. We chose this name because we want the school to become a living example of respectful, thoughtful and authentic education for children, families and educators.

"The main reason for the name Namuna is that we believe children learn through example and modelling rather than through lecturing. We wanted Namuna International Montessori School to be a guiding star for Montessori schools and kindergartens in Uzbekistan.

In the last century Munavvarqori Abdurashidxonov and other Jadids opened new-method schools. These schools were dedicated to awakening the Uzbek nation and spreading enlightenment. Such a school was called the 'Namuna school'. Following their example, and out of our affection for them, we named this school Namuna International Montessori School."
